CS4RI - A State-Wide Initiative Since 2016
CS4RI (Computer Science for Rhode Island) is a state initiative launched in 2016 by the Office of Governor Gina Raimondo to bring high quality computer science (CS) learning experiences to all students. It represents a partnership between Rhode Island state government, the Rhode Island Department of Education, K-12 schools, higher education, private industry, and non-profits across Rhode Island.
The State of K-12 Computer Science in Rhode Island
CS4RI continues to strive to make CS part of every Rhode Island student’s educational experience.
Our Mission
High-quality Computer Science instruction as early as kindergarten;
Access to high quality computer science education that meets the 2018 CS Education Standards;
High school pathways available that meet the 2018 CS CTE standards.
The focus of our work is broadening participation in computing to include those at the intersections of race/ethnicity, class, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, and other historically marginalized identities. We engage community partners and develop resources to support schools and educators in expanding their computer science offerings across all grades.
