Expanding Computing Education Pathways (ECEP) Alliance
CS4RI has received funding from the Expanding Computing Education Pathways (ECEP) Alliance, a program supported by the National Science Foundation. This funding will allow CS4RI to partner with four school districts in a pilot program (January – December 2021) which is designed to provide support, guidance, and resources to assist in implementation and progress monitoring of school district Computer Science (CS) Plans.
Through this work, CS4RI will develop a menu of options to meet the varying needs of different school districts with the goal of helping districts transition implementation plans into action.
At the conclusion of the grant period in December:
Four school districts – Cumberland, Newport, Warwick, and Westerly – will have implemented strategies to broaden participation in computer science courses;
An Implementation Action Toolkit with resources that can be tailored to meet the specific needs of districts and schools will be created and be available to all districts; and
An annotated list of effective BPC strategies will be added to existing CS4RI resources that can be used by all teachers/administrators as ways to ensure a diverse and welcoming student-centered culture.
