CS Education Initiatives

The initial focus of CS4RI was to get foundational computer science, as described the RI State Computer Science Education Standards, taught in K-12 schools. Although it is still growing and improving,  this foundational CS education has been established. Using this foundation, CS4RI is working on new CS curriculum initiatives in:

CS4RI has partnered with the College Board to advance two key educational goals: understanding how the US Constitution works and how technology can power solutions to problems facing our world through Two Codes.

CS4RI has partnered with Brown University to provide free professional development and curriculum for middle and high school teachers to integrate computer science in Algebra classes through its Bootstrap curriculum.

CS4RI has partnered with the University of Rhode Island (URI) to provide free professional development and curriculum for middle and high school teachers to integrate computer science in NGSS science classes.

CS4RI has partnered with Project Lead The Way to provide free professional development for high school teachers to teach an introduction to Cybersecurity course that earns college credits.

CS4RI has partnered with URI to provide free professional development and curriculum for high school teachers to teach an introduction to data science course that earns college credits.

Artificial Intelligence Education

CS4RI has partnered with The Partnership For Rhode Island, The Tech Collective, and the Mark Cuban Foundation to provide free AI education outside of school to RI high school students. CS4RI is partnering with URI to offer AI as a module in AP CS Principles for high school students.
