CTE Computer Science Programs
CS4RI has established in all RI public school districts high-quality computer science education at the high school level that follows the RI State Computer Science Education Standards by providing CS curriculum that is both in standalone CS courses and also integrates into existing high school courses. These courses can be taken by students individually or can used to form a CS CTE Pathway, which fall under the Computer Programming standard of the Information Technology industry section of the RI CTE Standards.
20 RI High Schools are participating in the CS4RI High School grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. As part of this grant program, each school has established a three course CS pathway.
CTE Requirements
The CTE requirement of a credential of value is achieved by concurrent enrollment college credit in CS from the University of Rhode Island, and the CTE requirement of work-based learning being achieved through a novel CS work-based learning curriculum.
