CS4RI announces the opening of applications for a Computer Science Implementation Specialist (CSEIS). The CSEIS will be responsible for the following:
Providing individual outreach and support districts in the application process for District Implementation Grants (referred to as “grants”). Supporting activities may include but are not limited to: school visits, phone calls, emails and informational sessions with and for administrators and school stakeholders as needed;
Manage the grant review process and making recommendations to the CS4RI Leadership team;
Collecting data from districts participating in the grant program;
Identifying training needs and bridge the connection between districts and CS4RI professional development providers;
Ensuring a high percentage urban high school attendance at the CS4RI Summit through individual outreach to teachers and administrators;
Supporting newly trained teachers in implementation through coaching, phone calls, email, school visits, etc. to meet teachers’ needs, as determined by the CS4RI Leadership Team;
Introducing available marketing materials to school counselors, administrators and others to all of the urban core schools for dissemination to the entire student body in order to increase student recruitment, broaden student participation, and retention;
Increasing access to out of school CS opportunities through strategic partnerships with a focus in Providence;
Supporting facilitation of the SCRIPT Workshops for grant recipients in developing district-level implementation plans;
Supporting student recruitment, retention and overall data collection in identified districts;
Producing a semi-annual report summarizing the products and activities of the above mentioned duties that comprise up to 30 hours of work per week for 8 months (Oct. 1, 2019 - May 31, 2020);
Submitting semiannual invoices;
Delivering 4-6 draft District Computer Science Implementation plans generated by the Districts and
Producing data reports from the 4-6 Districts.
And do so via:
Providing information to CS district teams, administrators and teachers identifying best practices and course sequences in existing CTE programs to support the increase of quality programs ultimately increasing student access through SCRIPT Workshops, webinars, newsletters and other communication channels;
Working in collaboration with the CS4RI Core Team to support CS Ed Week activities by developing and delivering materials to identified districts and supporting implementation at local events;
Encouraging and supporting teachers in identified districts to attain CS endorsement; and
Collaborating with CS4RI Leadership and Core Teams to ensure alignment with PrepareRI initiative and other policy related activities.
Payment Terms
The CSEIS consultant will work up to 30 hours per week for the 8 months, October 2019 through May 2020 billed hourly at the rate of $39/hr.
