CREATIVE COMPUTING WITH SCRATCH JR (K - 2)
Organization: Creative Computing with Scratch RI Project through the Copernicus STEAM Learning Lab
Format: The format is flexible and will vary dependent on the course where Scratch Jr. is being integrated. Free curricula and more than 30 class projects are available to choose from.
Description: Students use a drag and drop programming language (Scratch Jr.) to code, create, and share interactive stories, animations, games, music, and more as they learning problem solving and other fundamental CS concepts.
Teacher Profile: No prior CS experience required
PD Profile: Two full days with an after-school follow-up session (plus 1 full day of CS Fundamentals is encouraged), both with school year support (18+ hours).
Cost to School: PD costs waived for eligible educators.
Computer Access: Tablets or Chromebooks for Scratch Jr. and Chromebooks and Smartphones for Dash & Dot Robotics
